 When it was constructed?

The construction began on December 14, 1994 and completed on 2006. The fully funtional dam was opened on July 14, 2012. This dam spans the Yangtze River by the town of  San Douping in Yilling district, Yichong, Hubei province, central china, down stream of The Three Gorges Dam.

 

  

 Why it was constructed?

This was constructed as a hydroelectric gravity dam and also for controlling floods and for navigation purposes.

The Three Gorges dam has been the the world's largest power station in terms of installed capacity[22,500 MW]. Since 2012 to 18 the dam generated 101.6 Terra watt hour[ T W H ], breaking its previous records, but was still lower than the Itaipu Dam, which had set the world record in 2016 after producing 103.1 T W H.

 

 

 Pros and Cons of it.

*PROS

1. Prevent from flood.
2. Generates power.
3. Navigation for the cruise.

*CONS

1. Water pollution.
2. Migration problem.

•  For building this dam they have resettled 1.1 millions of people.

•  For building this dam they took $ 31.765 billion.
• The height of this dam is 181m [594ft].
