Beyond the Earth
Hello everyone!!!❤❤ I hope all are fine.
As April 24th of 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of NASA's Hubble space telescope, In this Blog we will briefly see about it.
Topics covered.
- When it was constructed?
- Why it was constructed?
- Important discoveries by it.
When it was constructed?
In 1969, the plan was started to make the Hubble space telescope. After twenty one years of continuous work they completed the construction of this telescope.
Until, 1924 all the scientist and the people thought that only milky way galaxy is present in this universe. But Edwin Hubble was just opposite to it. He stated that there are many galaxies in this universe and he proved it. On behalf of honoring him NASA kept the telescope name as "Hubble" space telescope.
Why it was discovered?
It was discovered to observe the most distant stars and galaxies as well as the planets in our solar system.
Important discoveries by it.
- Precisely predicting the age of the universe.
Through the telescope researchers discovered that the world is about 13.7 billion years old.
- New moons of Pluto.
This Hubble was responsible for discovering four of the five moons that are currently know to orbit the dwarf planet Pluto.
Some bits and bytes of Hubble space telescope.
- It is about the size of a large school bus.
- The weight of this telescope is equal to the weight of two adult male African bush elephant. (11000 kg).
- It are the Earth at a speed of 27,358 km/hour.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble space telescope. NASA has created a website that shows you a photo Hubble has taken on your birthday.
The website will say you to type your month and your birth date to find an image that the telescope took on that day. This is quiet interesting know.
